As we age, our teeth start to become naturally discolored and lifestyle factors can speed up the process. Tobacco use and consumption of staining foods and beverages like coffee and red wine can cause your teeth to become yellowed or stained. This has a big effect on your self-esteem. You may be afraid to smile around other people or in pictures, affecting your confidence and relationships with others. If you are living with stained or yellow teeth, the team at ZDental has some good news for you: you can whiten your teeth by 5-7 shades with ZOOM!® Whitening, and it takes less time than you might think.
You don’t have to accept stained or yellow teeth. ZDental offers ZOOM!® Whitening at each of our seven locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey; here’s more about the process and how long it takes to achieve a whiter smile:
How Does ZOOM!® Whitening Work?
The teeth whitening procedure is divided into two stages. In the first stage, your gums, lips, and other soft tissues will be covered to protect them, leaving only the teeth uncovered. In the second, a special whitening gel is applied to the teeth and is exposed to the special ZOOM!® light for 15 minutes. During this time, you can feel free to listen to music, watch TV, or do anything else you can do in a dentist’s chair.
Once the procedure is complete, the gel is removed and a sensitivity-reducing fluoride paste-gel is applied. For best results, this process should be repeated for four sessions, for a total treatment time of about one hour. If you have any particularly stubborn stains, you can also purchase the ZOOM!® at-home touch-up kit. Your dentist will advise you on the use of this kit and how frequently to apply it. Be sure to follow all instructions to ensure a safe and effective touch-up treatment.
Other Considerations
If you want to get the most from your ZOOM!® Whitening treatment, it’s best to get a regular dental checkup and cleaning before each repetition of the procedure. This will allow the hydrogen peroxide gel to enter the tooth enamel more easily and break up discoloration. Although most patients are able to achieve a smile that is 5-7 shades whiter after the procedure, everyone’s teeth are different and these results are not guaranteed.
